International Station for the Forecasting of Earthquakes ATROPATENA-PK, Pakistan, Islamabad

Report of GNFE board of Pakistan

On 30 January 2009 in Islamabad (Pakistan) the official opening of Pakistan Station of Forecasting the Earthquakes ATROPATENA-Pk was held. Pakistan Station became the second station in the system of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes. The first station ATROPATENA-Az was placed in Baku (Azerbaijan) at the beginning of 2007. The Pakistan station ATROPATENA-Pk was placed in the Centre of Earthquake Study at the Pakistan National Centre of Physics. Creation of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes is carried out in the framework of the ICEP (INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION FOR EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION) program.

Director and author of the first ever Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes, Vice-President of International Academy of Science H&E (Austria, Innsbruck), General Director of SRI of prediction and studying the earthquakes (SRI at IE), famous seismologist Prof. Elchin Khalilov informed that with the help of the Baku station of earthquake prediction, the official prediction of earthquakes was repeatedly given, directed to the state structures of Pakistan, Indonesia, China and other countries. The accuracy of short-term prediction of earthquakes is more than 90%. New philosophy and the applied physical principle of earthquake prediction, patented in PCT (Geneva), are completely different from common methods and technologies of short-term prediction of earthquakes. ATROPATENA stations, made in SRI at IE, measure the three-dimensional variations of gravitational field and register the specific super-long-period gravitational anomalies that occur before distant strong earthquakes. Even with the help of one station ATROPATENA can determine not only the force and the time, but also can localize the approximate place of the predicted earthquakes. A number of countries of the Near and the Middle East, Latin America and South Europe wish to have stations placed in their territories.  

All ATROPATENA stations are joined into the united network by means of the Internet and online  they pass all recorded information into the database server in the USA. The work of all stations is remote controlled by SRI at IE in Baku.

All participants of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes signed the International Agreement regarding joining the International Program of Cooperation for Earthquake Prediction and regarding being a member of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes - GNFE.
